1. How high do hot air balloons fly?
Depending on wind and weather conditions, hot air balloons can rise up to approximately 8,000 feet, which is around 2,400 meters. The flight altitude is determined by the pilot according to safe operating conditions.
2. When do hot air balloons fly in Cappadocia?
Hot air balloons in Cappadocia usually fly shortly before sunrise and after sunrise. Departure times vary depending on the season and are generally planned between 05:00 and 07:00 in the morning. During winter, afternoon flights may rarely be organized if weather conditions are suitable.
3. How safe is a hot air balloon flight?
Hot air ballooning is considered a very safe activity. Compared to aircraft such as airplanes, helicopters or gliders, hot air balloons have fewer mechanical parts, which reduces equipment-related risk. In Türkiye, balloon flights are also strictly supervised by the Civil Aviation Authority.
Cappadocia’s geographical structure also supports safe balloon operations. Light winds, dry air, clear skies and wide areas suitable for safe landings make the region one of the most favorable hot air balloon destinations in the world. This allows many safe flights to be operated throughout the year.
4. Are hot air balloon flights in Cappadocia insured?
Balloon companies operating in Türkiye are required to have insurance, and this is inspected by the relevant official authorities. Each passenger is insured by the balloon company operating the flight, and this coverage is included in the ticket price.
5. What happens if my flight is cancelled due to bad weather?
If your flight is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, a full refund may be provided for the cancelled flight. Upon request and subject to availability, the reservation may also be moved to the following day.
If there is availability for the next day, a new arrangement can be made. However, if the balloon company has limited seats left, there may be situations where an additional fee applies.
6. Can I change my flight date?
Yes, you may request to change your flight date. However, especially during the high season, a rescheduling fee may apply for the new date. Date changes are entirely subject to availability.
7. Where exactly does the flight take off from and which areas does it fly over?
According to the wind direction in the morning, the take-off point is determined by experienced pilots in order to provide the best possible flight experience. Therefore, instead of a single fixed take-off area, the most suitable location is selected based on that day’s weather conditions.
Depending on wind conditions, flights may take place over Cappadocia’s most popular areas such as Göreme, Paşabağ, Çavuşin, Rose Valley, Love Valley, Sword Valley and Red Valley.
8. Do I pay a cancellation fee if I cancel voluntarily?
The deduction and refund conditions applied in voluntary cancellations are stated in the Distance Sales Agreement. Before starting the cancellation process, we recommend reviewing the relevant agreement terms.
9. Can I update my transfer pick-up location later?
Yes, you can contact us and update your pick-up location later. However, the new address must be located within the serviced settlement areas in the Cappadocia region.
In general, address updates can be made for areas such as Ürgüp, Göreme, Uçhisar, Ortahisar, Mustafapaşa, Avanos, Çavuşin, İbrahimpaşa, Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı, Nevşehir, Nar and Ayvalı.
10. What else should I pay attention to before the flight starts?
Before the flight, you should carefully listen to the briefing given by the experienced pilot and follow all instructions completely. In particular, applying the landing position explained by the pilot correctly is very important for a safe landing.
